| Most of the information
on this page is geared toward people who have a bit of sewing
experience,
but dedicated beginners can probably follow along just as well.
In
the classes I've taken and the different seweing methods I've tried
I've
come across a few very useful tips for those of us who have been bitten
by
the Bug of Obsessive Costuming. Anything I find useful I'll try
to
include here. By far the most useful costuming tool I have to offer is the BODY BLOCK DRAFTING GUIDE. Use this to make a basic but detailed pattern of your upper body. Great for vests and bodices. The pages below also have some ideas for decorating your costumes, as well as tips for different types of embellishments you might want to use. As of August 28, 2011, these pages are not complete because, as always happens, I ran out of time before Dragon*Con. I hope to clean them up a little as well as add to them and add new ones over the next few months. Keep checking back! If you have any questions or comments, or would like to know anything specific that I haven't mentioned, please feel free to email me (Kathleen) at dallinka at yahoo dot ca. I'll do my best to help you out. Trim Appliqué Painting, Cording and Couching Lacing Multiple Techniques |
